This step is not the source of the fallacy.
This step follows from the previous step ((-1)/2 + 3/2 = 1/2 + 3/2)
by carrying out the indicated arithmetic.
Of course, we all know that 1=2, but the fallacy is not in this final
step; the final step does follow from the previous one.
Therefore, the mistake must have occurred earlier on in the proof.
Why don't you go back to the list of steps in the
proof and see if you can identify which one
is wrong, now that you know it isn't this one?
