The Reprise Program is for students who are doing poorly in the first term of their first year calculus course. The program is made up of two half courses and together they replace a full year course.
MAT123H1S plus MAT124H1Y replace and are equivalent to MAT133Y1Y,
MAT125H1S plus MAT126H1F replace and are equivalent to MAT135Y1Y.
There is no Reprise Program for MAT136Y1Y, MAT137Y1Y, or MAT157Y1Y. Students enrolled in these courses who are doing poorly may opt for the Reprise Program for MAT133Y1Y and MAT 135Y1Y.
| ("Parent" course) If you are doing poorly in this course... |
(Reprise Course) you can take this course in January 2008... |
(Reprise Course) and then you must take this course |
| MAT133Y1Y (20079) | MAT123H1S (20081) | MAT124H1Y (May-August 2008) 20085 |
| MAT135Y1Y (20079) | MAT125H1S (20081) | MAT126H1F (May-June 2008) 20085 |
Students may transfer to the Reprise Program from a first year calculus course if they are currently enrolled in MAT 133Y, 135Y, 136Y, 137Y, or 157Y and meet the following criteria:
| From MAT133Y1Y to MAT123H1S | Students must have written the first and second term tests and obtained at least 20% on the second term test. |
| From MAT135Y1Y to MAT125H1S | Students must have written the first and second term tests and obtained at least 20% on the second term test. |
| From MAT136Y1Y to MAT123H1S or MAT125H1S | Students must have written the first term test. |
| From MAT137Y1Y to MAT123H1S or MAT125H1S | Students must have written the first term test and obtained at least 20% and have submitted for grading at least 4 homework assignments. |
| From MAT157Y1Y to MAT123H1S or MAT125H1S | Students must consult with Marie Bachtis at the Department of Mathematics, BA6166 |
In other words:
in order to register for the Reprise Program you must still be
enrolled in one of the Y courses listed above and meet the grade
requirements stated above. Do not drop your Y course before registering
into the reprise program!
UTM and UTSC students are NOT ALLOWED to take the Reprise courses!
MAT123H1S and MAT125H1S start the week of January 14, 2008, after the results of the December term tests have been posted, and finish April 11, 2008. Test results from MAT133Y1Y and MAT135Y1Y will be posted on their respective course websites.
MAT123H1S meets on
Thursdays, 6-9 p.m., in WI 1017.
MAT125H1S meets on Wednesdays,
6-9 p.m., in SS 1085.
Both courses will have a two-hour final exam during the April-May
examination period. Both courses have no tutorials.
MAT124H1Y starts May 12 and finishes August 8 . It meets on Wednesday evenings, 6-10 p.m., and this includes a one-hour tutorial. A three-hour final exam will be given during the August 11-15 examination period. Some of the questions on the final exam will be based on material covered in MAT123H1S..
MAT126H1F starts on May 12 and finishes June 20. It meets every Tuesday and Thursday evening, 6-10 p.m., and this includes a one-hour tutorial for each day. A three-hour final exam will be given on June 24, 2008. Some of the questions on the final exam will be based on material covered in MAT125H1S.
All dates for MAT124H1Y and MAT126H1F ARE TENTATIVE. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP YOURSELF INFORMED!
Fees: There is no fee for registering to either MAT123H1S or MAT125H1S, however as you will be enrolling in courses during the summer session you will be charged the appropriate tuition and registration fees for MAT124H1Y and MAT126H1F.
Once both half courses of the Reprise Program have been successfully completed, the courses will be equivalent to their "parent" courses. On the transcript it will be recorded as two half courses. The grade obtained in each course will affect the GPA according to Grading Regulations as stated in the Arts & Science Calendar.
You are responsible for being informed of all exclusions for all Reprise Courses which are listed in the Arts & Science Calendar.
Assuming you fulfill the requirements listed above, the last day to request a Reprise course is January 20, 2008.
Enrolment controls are in effect for both MAT123H1S and MAT125H1S and enrolment must be approved by the Department of Mathematics. To enrol, you must request MAT123H1S or MAT125H1S on ROSI. Complete instructions on how to request a course is in your Registration Handbook. When you request the course, you will receive an "interim" status. The Department will review the interim list and assuming you have fulfilled the requirements listed above, your status will either be approved (APP) or refused (REF).
If you are approved, no further action is required and your full-year "parent" course will be removed from your record.
If you are refused, then you do not meet the criteria for the course. If you have started attending classes in this course you must stop immediately. Furthermore, your "parent" course will remain on your record.
| Once you are enrolled in the Reprise Program, you may NOT drop the course and try to go back to the "parent" course. The "parent" course is a full year course and the deadline to add Y courses on ROSI was late September. |
Assuming you have passed MAT123H1S or MAT125H1S, you can proceed to enrol in MAT124H1Y or MAT126H1F. The results of the first Reprise courses will be made very soon after the final exam has been written and will be posted on the math bulletin boards located near SS 1078.
The process for requesting the course is identical to the instructions for requesting MAT123H1S and MAT125H1S listed above. The Department will either approve or refuse your request based on whether you have passed the initial Reprise course.
The last day to request MAT124H1Y or MAT126H1F is May 19, 2008 (tentative).
The deadline to drop MAT123H1S or MAT125H1S without academic penalty is March 9, 2008. Since there are enrolment controls for both courses, to drop the course you must make this request in writing to Marie Bachtis of the Department of Mathematics, room SS 4072. You must do so by Friday March 9, 2008.
The deadline to drop MAT124H1Y without academic penalty is July 20, 2008 (tentative). The deadline to drop MAT126H1F without academic penalty is June 8, 2008 (tentative). To drop these courses you can do this yourself on ROSI. A request in writing is NOT required.
