Textbook:

Churchill & Brown, Complex Variables and Applications, Fifth edition.

Any student having the sixth edition should be sure to note the fact that chapter, section, and problem numbers are different in that edition. Each assignment will list the correct problem numbers for each edition.

Marking Scheme:

Assignments	10%
Midterm 1	25%
Midterm 2	25%
Final Exam	40%

• Assignments will be handed out most weeks on Tuesday, and will be due in class on the Thursday of the following week.

  There is an exception for the first two assignments; an extension until the following Tuesday has been granted on those assignments, to accommodate students who were unable to purchase the textbook on time due to the bookstore being out of stock.

• Assignments more than a week late will not be accepted. Assignments less than a week late will be penalized by 10% if they reach the marker after the marking has been completed, so late assignments are submitted at your own risk. Please note that I am not on campus on Fridays or Mondays, so assignments turned in to my office after Thursday afternoon will not reach the marker until Tuesday.

• There will be two midterms, in the regular lecture period:

  Tuesday October 7th
  Thursday November 6th

• Any student who is too ill to write a midterm must present a valid doctor's certificate within the following week. Such a student will have their midterm mark calculated as a weighted average of the other midterm mark (counting 35%) and the final exam mark (counting 65%).

Syllabus

If you are using the sixth edition, we will cover most of the material of chapters 1 through 7 of that textbook.
