A bit about myself:

I was born in Kentucky, USA, and have lived in the United States, England, Canada, and China.

Nathan and Fiyen Carruth

I married the wonderful, beautiful Fiyen Mo in the Logan, Utah temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 9, 2021.

I am fluent in Mandarin, Chinese, and trying to learn Cantonese and Enpinghua. I also have some competency in German and some acquaintance with Russian, French, Latin, and Biblical Hebrew, among others. I like books and languages and have accumulated dictionaries, grammars, or language instruction books in probably more than two dozen languages (including one of my favourites, a Karakalpak-Russian dictionary of mathematical terminology).

A poem I like, by Conrad Aiken, shared by Peter Shor (yes, that Peter Shor!). And here are some other poems from Peter Shor I particularly appreciate: Poems for Quantum Computing Skeptics and An Agnostic Physicist Muses Upon the Dawn.

A Chinese poem I wrote, a meditation on creation, fall, atonement, sin, repentance, grace, works, and exaltation. I only wish my Chinese abilities were more equal to the task.
