AIR: Toronto's
Lester B. Pearson International Airport (code YYZ)
is served by direct flights
from many major airlines and locations. It is the main hub of
Air Canada,
which as part of the Star Alliance, code-shares its flights (among others)
with United Airlines and
Lufthansa.
GROUND:
Transportation from the airport downtown is by limousine ($43), taxi ($39),
airport express bus
($13.75 less discounts for students, seniors, and roundtrips),
or TTC
(Toronto city bus) 192 to the Kipling subway station
($2.25 includes transfer - if requested upon boarding -
to the subway train system and thence all points).
LOCATION: The Nonlinear and Geometric Analysis Day sessions on
Friday December 7 will be held at the University of Toronto Department
of Mathematics, Room 5017A of the Sid Smith Building,
100 St. George Street, marked SS on the
University of
Toronto Campus Map.
The nearest subway stop is St George (10 min walk), the next nearest
Queen's Park (12 min walk).
The conference sessions for the
CMS meeting to follow Dec 08-10
will be held at the
Toronto Colony Hotel,
located in downtown Toronto at 89 Chestnut St,
and served by the St Patrick and Dundas subway stops,
and also in close walking distance to the bus terminal. It is also within about 20 minutes walking distance from the Mathematics Department: cut Southeast
across campus to the corner of College and University,
then 4 blocks South along University to Dundas, then 2 blocks East to
Chestnut (between University and Bay).
EXCHANGE RATE: $1 US = $1.56 CDN as of early September, 2001.
TIPPING: As in the US, a 15% tip is customary for good service in restaurants,
and 10-15% in taxis.
