This step is not the source of the fallacy.This follows from the previous step (x^2 + y^2 = L^2),
which gives y = + or -sqrt(L^2 - x^2).
Since y is positive, it must equal the
positive square root rather than the negative one.
Why don't you go back to the list of steps in the
proof and see if you can identify which one
is wrong, now that you know it isn't this one?
