Seminars in this series are for students to talk about something of  personal interest, or a professor to describe and explore their area of research.

The talks are at a very accessible level.

Free pizzas are a regular part  of this seminar series.

Abstract:
By definition, a Bratteli diagram $B$ is an infinite graph whose vertex set $V$ is a disjoint union of finite sets $V_i, i=0,1,\ldots$. The edges join only vertices from adjoint levels. The full group $G$ of the Bratteli diagram $B$ is the group of transformations on the space of infinite paths $X$ of $B$ which changes only initial segments of paths. The group $G$ arises naturally as a dense subgroup in the full group of the tail equivalence relation on $X$. Also, $G$ can be considered as an inductive limit of symmetric groups under block diagonal embeddings. In this talk I will present my recent results (joint with K. Medynets) on representations of $G$. The main result is a description of characters on $G$ in terms of ergodic measures on $X$.
