Gabor analysis in signal and image processing

Abstract: Time-frequency analysis, rooted in the short-time Fourier
transform, has been applied in recent years to myriad technologies,
including geophysical imaging and medical signal processing. The
short-time Fourier transform and its various discretizations are also
known as Gabor transforms. In this talk we discuss a number of
mathematical issues relating to the analysis and computation of linear
operators by means of Gabor transforms. The main focus will be the
problem of diagonalizing a general linear operator via the short-time
Fourier transform, and relating the analysis to the standard
Kohn-Nirenberg representation.
