Scenes from a housewarming/birthday party (March 1998)

Robyn Irving (with her mom) opens one of her many birthday presents.
As this picture of David Neto attests, it must be the 90's.
Wayne Hayes checks for items that were stolen from his office.
Arthur Tateishi is probably talking about something that no one cares about, since Wayne is enjoying his complementary appetizer, and Dennis Hui is completely confused at what's going on.

510 Spadina Streetcar finally opens (July 27, 1997)

So long, Spadina bus! Route 77 of the TTC on the night before the streetcars take over. At the intersection of Spadina and Harbord.
After five years of construction at a cost of $105 million, TTC streetcar 4168 exits the Spadina portal.
One of the few surprises at the opening ceremony is car 327, a restored trolley car which was on display at Sussex and Spadina. Originally operated by the Toronto Railways Company (before it became the TTC in 1921), it had served the Belt Line route, which went around the city on Spadina, Bloor, Sherbourne, and Front.
The remaining Peter Witt car in the TTC fleet, car 2766, struts its stuff at the official Spadina streetcar line opening (or should I say, re-opening). PCC car 4500 is right behind it.
Passengers board a streetcar at Spadina Station.
Here's the picture on the front page of the July 28 Toronto Star by Tony Bock. Unbelievably, I'm in the picture, but the resolution is too poor for you to see me.
For a great list of links about the TTC (and other transit systems), I recommend James Bow's collection of rail and transit links.

Agh! I'm not a blood sucking lawyer!! Museum of Natural History.
Josette and Mike prepare to get sucked by a Rolls Royce RB-535 turbofan. National Air and Space Museum, one of the coolest museums in the world.

Airplane Pictures, Vancouver BC (May 1995) and Everett WA (February 1994)

Air BC (old colours), De Havilland Dash-8 on approach to YVR.
Canadian Airlines Boeing 737-275 Advanced. The workhorse of the Canadian fleet.
United Airlines Boeing 777-222 (N777UA). This is UA's first 777 and Boeing's first ever 777 in commerical service, which was delivered in Vancouver to the airline in order to exploit a tax loophole. United now has at least 12 triple-sevens in their fleet. The engines are Pratt & Whitney PW4077s. They're huge!
Korean Air Boeing 747-3B5 (HL7479) along with the United 777.
Boeing 727 in old United colours, being restored at Everett.
A BOAC Comet 4C also being restored. Truly a pioneer of commercial aviation, the Comet was the first ever jet with a pressurized cabin, but it was quickly grounded due to huge structural stress near the windows caused by fluctuations in cabin pressure upon takeoff and landing.

Montreal (May 1994)

Naoki Sato and Eric Lai "cruise" down Mont Royal, Montreal. Aaugh!!
From left to right: Eric, Naoki, Cathy Nangini, Cherie D'Mello, Adriana Dawes, and Anita Heung. Naoki appears to enjoy his escargots, and Adriana is showing the effects of her beer.
As Eric can tell you, oral hygeine is the first step to studliness.
Adriana, Eric, Anita, and Cherie wait for a cafeteria to open.

Matt Szczesny needs his beauty sleep, especially when working under Bill Gates. (May 1995)
The world is definitely a better place with Adriana. Maybe Letterman will have her on, anyway.
