Latest news

Since September 2003, I have put aside Mathematics to pursue medical studies. I am now soon starting my third year of studies at the Faculté de Médecine at Université Laval in Québec City. I'm done with my course work, and will study and work at the various Québec City hospitals for the next two years.

Math and Research

The title of my thesis is Auslander algebras and simple plane curve singularities. I've worked under the supervision of Professor Ragnar-Olaf Buchweitz.  I received my B.Sc. in Mathematics from the Départment de Mathématiques et de Statistiques of the Université de Sherbrooke in May of 1997, and my M.Sc. from the Mathematics Department of the University of Toronto in 1998. I was, during the years 1998-2003 a teaching assistant, a course instructor and a course coordinator in the Mathematics department. I volunteered also to be mentor in the Mentorship in Mathematics program for high school students. I loved teaching -- I miss it a lot. To all my students: you brought me great joy while I lived in Toronto and I wish you all the best.

Med School

I started Med School in Québec City in September 2003. I did all my course work in the span of 5 semesters, and am now a legitimate "externe", that is, a doctor who can't prescribe and who has to have his or her work checked out (sometimes) by a supervisor. Right now, I am doing an introductory course ending June 11th, where we learn the physical exam. Coming up, I have optional courses in Psychiatry and Cardiac Surgery. In November begins the sequence of all compulsory courses, with Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Internal Med, Surgery and Ob-Gyn. I will be an MD in July 2007. I am thinking of specializing in either Psychiatry or Surgery, or become a GP with perhaps a practice in Geriatrics and Palliative Care.
