Leafwise Fixed Points, Exotic Symplectic Structures, and Relative Hofer Diameters

Abstract:

This is recent joint work with Jan Swoboda. We use the existence of leafwise fixed points to show that there exist exotic symplectic structures on certain product manifolds, and to give a lower bound on the relative Hofer diameter of open subsets in certain product manifolds. I will also show a little computer animation illustrating an example of a leafwise fixed point.
