Day -32 - The Choice of Basepoint

"An entire holomorphic functions goes from C to C"

Hi, and welcome back to my bike-log.

This summer, I will be biking again, but this time, the destination is Portland, OR. I need to be there on June 19th, and my final commitment in Toronto is on April 24. This leaves a total of 55 days to, well, bike.

This time, I will not be starting from Toronto. This time, I will be starting from

Our friends at Google suggest that this bike ride will take around 300 hours, cover multiple timezones, and have a total uphill climb of 20km. A brief visual inspection also counts about 10 states, none of which I've ever visited before.

oof.

On the other hand, boy oh boy, there are lots of other hands. The panhandle! The deep south! The Bible Belt! Texas! Desert! Four corners! That huge Mormon temple in Utah! Potatoes! Mountains! All this, and more, is on the way.

I need to bike for 300 hours, or, about 5500km. I could try the arithmetic bike ride, where on the first day, I bike one hour, on the second, I bike two hours, and so on... That way, I'll be done in only 24 days! I could try something like that with kilometers, as well, where on the first day I do 4km, the second 8, the third 12, and so on. That way, I'll be done in 50 days. That could be cool as well. But I have a truly better idea.

It's getting late, and I haven't yet talked about the bike at all. Next post will happen soon with bike details, and the boring logistics of flying with a bike. The really good idea will have to wait a while...
