Day -3 - The Good Ideas

"A person's IQ is inversely proportional to how much they talk about it."

Hi, and welcome back to my bike blog.

In this blog post, I will talk about some ideas I've had to spice up the bike ride.

The Days of the Week

The bike ride will span 56 days. Every day is the same, unless they are made different, and this evenly divides into eight weeks, which means that I can do theme days! Here's my current idea:

The Writing

This blog is as much a blog as it is my notebook. As the case last year, I will be writing about things that are for future me. I would like to take this bike ride as an opportunity to freeze-frame my thoughts on many things. I'm working on a list, but expect the occasional blog post to be very short on the biking side, and much longer on the personal side.

I'd like to write about some of my personal philosophy, ideals, and doubts. This is my pensieve. I'm not sure if I would also like this blog to be a bit of a creative writing outlet as well.

The Other Option

Two days ago, I talked to Sarah on the phone. My head hurt, my vision tunnelled, my throat hurt, my nose was stuffed, and I realized that I could not do this bike trip. My body is not fit, my mind is used to the amenities of the city, and last year, after ten days biking, I needed a break. There's a very good chance that I'll snap.

This is where the Other Option comes in - a kind of free-form travel across the US. Up, down, north south, busses, bikes, cars, anything is fair game. Essentially, to wander around for a while until the money runs out, or June 19 rolls around. That's the backup plan.
