DAY 0 - Introduction
"Easier said than done"

Hi, and welcome to my bike-log.

In the next two weeks, I plan to bike from Toronto to Boston in order to attend the Voting Rights Data Institute workshop at Tufts university. The idea came out of my necessity to arrive at Boston, and my desire to have a bike there. 1+1=2, and it's now day 0 of my journey.
I think of this bike ride as a birthday present to myself, as I will be turning 25 on the day that I leave :).
The planned route is:

Toronto - Niagra Falls - Upstate New York - Albany - Boston

This is around 1,000 km, with a total uphill climb of around 3km. I'm scared.

My phone number in Canada will be 416-452-7505 (I'll update an American number once I get one), and you're always welcome to call and give me a break while I describe the beautiful upstate New York countryside to you.

Today's log is short, as all I really did was pack my bags (I'll probably post more about what I brought and how it's packed in later posts), and said goodbye to some people in Toronto.

Disclaimer To those of you worried for me:
I plan to bike around 70km per day along the aformentioned route, and I will be regularly updating this site with my general location, so you'll know where I am, and that I am safe. I am not carrying anything irreplaceable, and will always be near the highway (but not too near, mom). I do carry my pride, and will try my best to complete the journey as intended, but I am aware that things may not go as planned. I have the resources necessary to arrive in Boston safely, including contact people on both ends of my journey (and the ability to dial 911).
