It's been a while, and the garden's been growing. I've been finding a new apartment, and going to a lot of zoom calls, but somehow the garden has been escaping me, and before I knew it, I started getting yields. It all started with the herbs...
My tomatoes started getting bottom rot. I still have no idea what caused it, but it's only the tomatoes in the pot. I threw out at least 20 tomatoes because of this, but the ones that came a bit later didn't have this problem. My first harvest was of some zucchini and some cucumbers:
Then more and more started coming in.
A momentous occasion! My first true garden salad!
Anyway, there's lots more being harvested every day. I'm getting about two cucumbers per day, a few tomatoes per week, and as many chili peppers as I could ever want. The garden is completely covered in foliage, so sometimes veggies stay hidden in the bush, but it's okay, because there's always someone to unload that huge zucchini on to.
I am soon moving out. That means that this garden is going to change hands. I'm going to give it, and all of its produce to the downstairs neighbours (okay, I'll probably take some of the big pots, and the good planters with me). The story of finishing harvest will be with them. It's August 1st right now, and I think it's time to end the blog.
I guess I should finish up with a before and after picture...
And you know what? Those cilantro seedlings grew, seeded, and made no edible cilantro leaves.
Until next time,
-Assaf :)
