Math Kangaroo 2007
For Teachers
Some schools enroll their students in Math. Kangaroo and provide payment for them.
This is surely very positive, but some of teachers do not follow instructions and it requires a lot of our time to fix things. Please read this:
- Student must be registered. Registration does not mean participation, so if student is not coming, there is no need to delete registration: this student may come next year. However, do not register just in case: performance of our server deteriorates if database becoming too large.
- If some student who is registered does not come, but another student decides to come instead, this second student must register as well. We can transfer fee from the first sudent to the second one, but we need a registration to attach this fee and put the mark.
- The registration stays until one year after student graduates. During Summer break the grade is automatically increased by 1.
- Students should not be registered more than once. So, if you register your students, enquire first if they are already registered and do not register them if they already are, and ask them not to register if you are going to do it by yourself.
- If you register your students advise them (or their parents) their usernames and passwords which will persist even if students move to another school. They will need never register again, just confirm their participation in certain events. Please make sure that they understand this.
- Our bot searches for double registrations and we investigate each case manually (because there could be two students with the same last and first names). However, if spelling changes, bot cannot find doubles and while we do sometimes a manual search, it is very time consuming.
- Registering students you need to follow instructions. F.e. phones must be in XXX-XXX-XXXX format, so (416)128-3444 will be rejected. You also should not put ' or " in the name of the school or student name but replace ' by # and " by ##.
- Sending payment do it in time: payment is processed and data entered in database by admstaff of Department of Mathematics, which is not available during weekends. Please ensure the consistent spelling of students names and correct registration numbers.
