Tournament of Towns and Math. Kangaroo at Toronto
Grading System

The Tournament of the Towns system of grading, following the tradition of Mathematical Olympiads, is based on using the following symbols (marks).

+ for any correct solution.
+. for a mainly correct solution with small defects (trivial correction/corrections is needed ).
+- for a solution with an essential flaw, which could be easily eliminated (basically, problem is solved).
+/2 for a correct solution of one part the problem (if the problem splits naturally into two parts); for a correct idea, not developed enough to consider the problem solved completely.
-+ for a mainly incorrect solution; however, with an essential advancement/advancements.
-. for an incorrect solution with some reasonable arguments.
- for a wrong solution.
0 for a problem not attempted.
! is added to a mark + if the solution contains an original approach (short, but concise presentation, comprehensiveness, straightness of the result,..)
