The new version (8.1.2) of acroread is now the default on coxeter. It is able to display NSERC pdf forms and printing from within it is working now.

There is a new version (8.1.2) of acroread available by running /usr/bin/acroread on coxeter. It will be made the default version later this week.

The mailgroup command will be updated (most likely) next week to add a message header with the name of the file of addresses used when no To: line is explicitly specified (that is, To: Unnamed Mailing List is used) in the command.

The UofT network connectivity to the outside world will be disrupted on Thursday, July 24, 2008, between 7:30am and 8:00am due to scheduled maintenance.

On Wednesday there will be a short (5-10 minutes) network outage sometime between 8am and 4pm in Earth Sciences while CNS upgrades the router there.
There continue to be more reports of phishing scams being made to try to get UTORids and passwords. Please see the article in the UofT News for more information.

Authenticated outgoing (SMTP) access for email is now available at smtp.math.utoronto.ca on port 587. You have to use TLS as your secure connection to use this service.
If you use this outgoing email service then when you send out email it will come from the departmental server. This can be more convenient if you travel with a laptop since you do not need to change your outgoing email server each time you move around.
