Daisy S McCann (8 March 1927 - 20 May 2022)

Surrounded by the love of her family, Daisy passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday 20 May 2022 in the home that she shared with her son Robert, daughter-in-law Carolyn, and grandchildren Ian, Dylan, and Aiden. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Julie and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, her beloved husband of 55 years John Joseph "Joe" McCann, and his five siblings.

Dr. Daisy S McCann (1927-2022) was a research biochemist and entrepreneur, who taught in the Department of Biological Chemistry at the University of Michigan, founded the temp-to-perm placement service Add-a-Tech, Inc., and served many years as the Executive Director of the Clinical Ligand Assay Society. She was a source of wisdom and inspiration to many.

A celebration of her life took place 4pm Saturday 28 May at Toronto's Mount Pleasant Funeral Center. It was recorded and can be accessed by selecting `Media' and then `Videos' from the drop down menu in the upper right hand corner AT THIS LINK. Anyone can sign the guestbook there, and the family would appreciate photos and memories uploaded to the same link.

Condolences can be sent to the Guestbook linked above, where eulogies by Jeff Ellis, Kristina Huneault, and Robert McCann can also be accessed, or by snail mail, phone, or email to robertjmccann -AT- gmail -DOT- com

In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the Daisy S and John Joseph McCann Memorial Fund to create a scholarship at the University of Toronto to honor her memory. For US tax receipts, US based donors not closely related to UToronto alumni may prefer to make their contributions following the instructions on this form.

Daisy's earthly remains will join those of her parents and sister at Toronto's Prospect Cemetery in a private ceremony on a later date. Her obituary appeared in the 26 May 2022 Globe and Mail.
