When I began my university education I studied Neuroscience and philosophy. I later concentrated on Physics and eventually moved to pure mathematics. I completed an MSc. with I.M. Sigal's group at the University of Toronto where I studied non-linear partial differntial equations and mathematical physics and concentrated on the study of solitons. After completing my Master's degree I entered the Ph.D. program in Applied Mathematics and continued my study of non-linear PDE's but eventually decided to make a move into Quantum Computation. I am currently doing research in Daniel Lidar's group at the University of Southern California, and have completed my Ph.D.
Current Research
I am currently completing research that involves several novel approaches towards understanding the link between classical statistcal physics and the quantum circuit model and to quantum computation in general. I am also working on the links between topology and quantum computation with an eye on finite type invariants. I also plan to devote a significant amount of time to the problem of protein folding and on how quantum adiabatic computation may provide an algorithmic speed up. I have accepted a position at MaRS/Princess Margaret Hospital where I will be working on mathematical oncology. More details soon.
