  1. In the first part of my talk I am discussing
    1. TeX distribution and the structure of texmf tree(s);
    2. Execution of TeX and LaTeX;
    3. Structure of (La)TeX documents and projects;
    4. Reasons to use LaTeX;
    5. .aux (and other auxillary) files;
    6. Counters, labels, \ref, \pageref, \cite;
    7. LaTeX classes and packages: general info.
    1. In the second part of the talk I discuss LaTeX packages used ito display and modify
      • Symbols and Math;
      • Theorems;
      • Graphics (to include and to create);
      • Floats (tables and figures);
      • Page layout;
      to faciliate
      • Preparation;
      • E-publishing (see also e-Article, e-Books and e-Talks too;
      • Presentation;
      • Distribution of documents;
      • Dealing with different languages;
      • To help other packages;
    2. I also discuss other programs which are either using LaTeX (like htlatex) or used by LaTeX or used with TeX (ghostscript, gnuplot, octave, asymptot, latexdiff);
    3. Finally where to get some help (there is a host of different resources but majority of users never heard of them).
