WARNING: SCRATCH SPACE IS NOT BACKED UP.  ANY DATA IN THE SCRATCH SPACE
         COULD DISAPPEAR AT ANY TIME.

sphere has some space (currently over 1TB available) so people can temporarily
store files.  This space is in the /DO_NOT_BACK/scratch directory.  Each user
has a directory in there with the same name as their account name.  Files in
these directories are NOT backed up and are NOT recoverable; do NOT store
anything important in these directories.

Do NOT use any system directories (such as /tmp or /var/tmp) for file storage.
Use only your own home directory (and subdirectories of that) or the space
in /DO_NOT_BACK_UP/scratch/<your-account-name> for storing your files.  Files
in system directories may be removed at any time.
