The 1996 R. A. Blyth Lectures
A Survey of Some Recent Developments in Lie Group Theory and Geometry
Professor Bertram Kostant,
Massachusetts Institute of
Technology
Abstract:
The lectures will be a survey of some recent results in semisimple Lie
theory which have or show promise of having an impact on other areas of
mathematics and physics. Topics will be selected from such areas as
symplectic geometry, moment maps, quantizations theories (including
quantum cohomology), hypergeometric functions, and the cohomology of
homogeneous varieties.
