The seminar is devoted to classical and modern questions of algebra and geometry. Most talks are two-hour informal talks. Comments and discussions are highly encouraged.

Algebraic Geometry and Convex Geometry II

Abstract:
The second talk will be again about a surprising and unexpected connection between Algebraic and Convex geometries in general framework. This talk will be independent from the previous one. I will start with some results on semigroups of integral points, which are accessible to high-school students. I will define Newton-Okounkov bodies for semigroups of integral points, will prove classical Bernstein-Kushnirenko theorem and will discuss an extension of the classical intersection theory of divisors.
