The seminar is devoted to classical and modern questions of algebra and geometry. Most talks are two-hour informal talks. Comments and discussions are highly encouraged.


NEW MINI-COURSE: Inifinitesimal Hilbert 16th problem: inside the proof

Infinitesimal Hilbert 16th problem asks about the number of zeros of the so-called Abelian integrals. These zeros are responsible for appearance of limit cycles in perturbations of planar polynomial Hamiltonian vector fields, so this question is closely related to Hilbert 16th problem. Recently, in a joint work with Gal Binyamini and Sergey Yakovenko, we provided the first known effective answer to this question. I will give a series of informal lectures explaining how our proof works. No prerequisites are assumed and clear understanding will be the aim. We will proceed at a pace convenient to everyone attending (in particular, the number of lectures is not fixed).
