9g deft was my over -the -board play, but I changed my mind and now vote for 9d oft, agreeing with Felt that this play makes it difficult for opp. to score and the leave (edls) is superior.

PS I ran a quick 2-ply sim with Maven of hyoid versus edify now, and edify led for the first ~600 sims when hyoid took over and retained the lead at 1500 sims by 35.56 vs. 33.67 (about 2 pts.).
